BREAKING: Wike Threatens to Revoke Hotels and Event Centres Used for “Illegal Meetings” in Abuja
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a strong warning that land titles of hotels, event centres, and other public facilities could be revoked if they are found to be used for gatherings linked to illegal organizations within Abuja.
According to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), property owners must now ensure strict monitoring of activities taking place within their premises, especially events that could threaten peace and security in the capital city.

The warning was made public in a statement released by the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka.
The statement emphasized that land allocations in the FCT are strictly for lawful purposes, adding that any facility linked to unlawful or unauthorized organizations risks losing its ownership documents.
The administration also revealed plans to step up surveillance on hotels, event centres, and other public venues as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and prevent disturbances in Abuja.
It noted that the move is aimed at ensuring that such facilities are not used as meeting points for groups capable of disrupting public peace.
As part of the new directive, owners of such facilities have been instructed to verify the legitimacy of any organization booking their venues and to maintain proper records of all transactions before approval is granted.
The FCTA further stressed that during the current political period, hotel and event centre operators must only deal with leadership structures of political parties recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Failure to comply with these directives, the administration warned, could lead to the revocation of affected property titles.
